Paper Airplanes

I've had traveling on the mind lately. Growing up I'd spend hours looking at maps and pictures of far away places dreaming of all the exotic trips I'd take. As they say, life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans and I've never gotten around to very much traveling. Up until last year I'd only been to one other province in Canada and a dozen or so states in the US. I made it my goal last year to make it to another country. I ended up traveling to Cuba with my best fiend and actually had so much fun that I returned with the Grumpy Danish a few months later. Cuba's a great mix of relaxing lying on the beach and culture. I think visiting Havana was my favourite part of the trip both times. Havana is this beautiful tragedy. A long time ago they started to build a beautiful city. Time, poverty and the sea have corroded and tarnished so much, but in a way make it even more hauntingly beautiful.
My goal this year is to make it to another continent. Time and money aren't on my side, I'm only going to have about a week of vacation in October to work with. I'm pretty stubborn though, even if I can only spend a weekend somewhere, I'll do it.
Now I just have to figure out where. Any suggestions?

  5. If you go down to Florida and go to the cruise ships right before they set sail they offer HUGE discounts on the vacant rooms. My folks have done that a few times. If I did not see Titanic 135 times I would surely do that myself.

  6. Natalie: I would LOVE to come to Australia. Don't think budget and time are going to allow me to make it (this year at least)
Jennifer: I'm thinking Europe is probably most likely :)
The looking glass; Aww, you're so sweet. St Maarten looks really cool, I've read a bit about it and looked at pictures. I'd love to go there one time.
I Bleed Pink: Thanks :) I think I probably look "prettier" with longer hair, but I like to mix it up. I'm sure within a couple years I'll be long again. Dress shopping in Austin sounds awesome! lol, have to save it for another trip though cause it doesn't count as another continent.
Beth: That's really cool to know, thanks :)
